THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Chemist at VPS, you will play a critical role in our Research and Development team, leading the development and implementation of advanced testing methodologies and technologies for marine fuel analysis. Leveraging your expertise in analytical chemistry and fuel science, you will drive innovation, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance in our testing processes, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our results.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and Development:

  • Lead research projects focused on the development of new testing methods and technologies for marine fuel analysis.
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and evaluate results to validate the performance and reliability of testing methodologies.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of test results.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards related to marine fuel testing, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements and guidelines.

Technical Leadership:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in analytical chemistry and fuel science, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff members and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and customer service, to support product development, customer inquiries, and technical support.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements in our testing workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property, patents, and proprietary technologies to maintain our competitive edge in the market.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

  • PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field, with a focus on fuel science, lubrication, or marine chemistry.
  • 5 years of experience in research and development, preferably in a marine fuel testing, lubricant testing, or related industry.
  • Expertise in analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry, with a strong understanding of fuel and lubricant composition and properties.
  • Proven track record of leading research projects, developing innovative solutions, and driving technical advancements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
