VPS Group Marketing & Strategic Projects Director Steve Bee is honoured to be invited as a guest speaker at a Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME-WES) event on Wednesday 24^th June from 6pm at The Royal Institution of Naval Architects at 8 to 9 Northumberland Street, London, WC2N 5DA .

Steve’s presentation entitled ‘Maritime Decarbonization and the Low-to-Zero Carbon Fuel Challenges’ will provide a comprehensive overview of biofuels and methanol and their role in global shipping’s journey to reduce its emissions. It will also highlight the need for shipping to transition to cleaner fuels due to environmental legislation and societal pressure. The presentation will introduce biofuels as ‘drop-in’ sustainable alternatives to conventional fossil fuels, detailing their production processes and types. In addition, Steve will cover the advantages and disadvantages of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (HVO) and Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) as biofuels, before moving on to similar considerations for methanol and ethanol.
