Navigating the Transition to Low- and Zero-Carbon Marine Fuels
VPS President of Strategic Partnerships, Captain Rahul Choudhuri, delivered important messages on marine fuel standards and quality, during the Singapore SIBCON 2026 pre-conference event and the opening day of the main conference.
Speaking in his capacity as Chair, TC Bunkering (Ambient Liquid Fuels), Chemical Standards Committee (CSC), Captain Rahul, highlighted the continued development of Singapore’s national standards programme. He explained how the programme is evolving to address the increasing complexity of a multi-fuel future, including the expansion of robust standards for low- to-zero carbon marine fuels.
During the main SIBCON programme, Captain Rahul also joined the panel session, “Fueling the Present and Bridging the Future: Market for Conventional and Biofuels to 2030.” Drawing on VPS marine fuel testing data, he shared insights into the quality of conventional fuels and biofuels, as well as his perspective on how the marine fuel supply industry is likely to evolve.
As shipping’s energy transition accelerates, dependable standards, representative data and independent fuel-quality expertise will be essential to supporting the safe and successful adoption of new fuels.
