Month one of the Maress Decarbonisation Campaign

🌊 Month one of the Maress Decarbonisation Campaign: 250+ participating vessels, 764 tonnes of fuel saved and 2,450 tonnes of CO₂ saved.

🌦️ Weather matters when measuring fuel efficiency. Each vessel is compared with its own baseline, adjusted for how campaign conditions differ from the weather it usually operates in.

Across the PSV group, measured fuel improvement increased from 2.89% to 3.19% after weather adjustment. For CSVs, it decreased from 0.67% to 0.37%. Accounting for wind, waves and currents helps put the results in context.

âš“ 54.5% of reported COâ‚‚ savings came from standby and dynamic positioning - approximately 1,335 tonnes combined.

📊 118 vessels improved against their weather-adjusted baselines and met the campaign’s ranking requirements.

💪 Two months remain. We encourage participating teams to keep exploring operational actions that could improve their vessels’ performance. Use the results to identify opportunities, test changes and track what makes a difference.

From Bronze to Gold: VPS Accelerates Its Climate Action Journey

VPS is proud to have achieved Gold status in the Greenly Climate Score programme. Having now progressed from Bronze level over the past year, this Gold-rating, provides independent proof of the meaningful momentum in our emissions reduction and climate journey.

The Greenly assessment covered emissions under VPS’ operational control across the full year data for 2025 and includes Scope1 -direct emissions and Scope 2 – energy emissions.

The assessment established a VPS  baseline of 1.5K tCO2e in 2025 equivalent to 5.3 tCO2e per employee and identified energy as our priority area for action.

Our score was calculated using 100% activity data following internationally recognized GHG Protocol methodology, with this milestone reflecting more than just a score: VPS has materially improved the maturity, quality and transparency of our climate measurement and strategy.

VPS’ Gold status, places us in Greenly’s “Responsible Companies” tier, which represents 5% of companies within Greenly’s benchmark database. For VPS, Gold is an important marker of progress, not the finish line. We remain committed to transparent measurement, practical emissions reduction and continuous improvement.

Thank you to everyone at VPS who has contributed to this achievement.

Navigating the Transition to Low- and Zero-Carbon Marine Fuels

VPS President of Strategic Partnerships, Captain Rahul Choudhuri, delivered important messages on marine fuel standards and quality, during the Singapore SIBCON 2026 pre-conference event and the opening day of the main conference.

Speaking in his capacity as Chair, TC Bunkering (Ambient Liquid Fuels), Chemical Standards Committee (CSC), Captain Rahul, highlighted the continued development of Singapore’s national standards programme. He explained how the programme is evolving to address the increasing complexity of a multi-fuel future, including the expansion of robust standards for low- to-zero carbon marine fuels.

During the main SIBCON programme, Captain Rahul also joined the panel session, “Fueling the Present and Bridging the Future: Market for Conventional and Biofuels to 2030.” Drawing on VPS marine fuel testing data, he shared insights into the quality of conventional fuels and biofuels, as well as his perspective on how the marine fuel supply industry is likely to evolve.

As shipping’s energy transition accelerates, dependable standards, representative data and independent fuel-quality expertise will be essential to supporting the safe and successful adoption of new fuels.
